Art is an unaltered Australian/Shepherd mix that’s approximately 2 years old and 30 pounds with absolutely beautiful black & white markings. Unfortunately this great looking young guy gets scared when people approach the cage and therefore he isn’t showing well! You see, Art ended up in the shelter after being hit by a car July 2nd and he’s still pretty shaken up by the whole thing. But really, who wouldn’t feel that way after a story like his...abandoned, left wandering the streets in the scorching summer heat, confused, thirsty, hungry and tired. Then all of a sudden, a loud crashing sound, a woman’s screams of panic (the one who hit him & then drove away while he lay there yelping, crying out in pain) and poor Art, again left hurt and completely confused. Luckily a neighbor heard everything and called for help, but when rescuers got there, Art was very afraid and reluctant of their help. Fearing they’d hurt him too, he crawled into a drainage tunnel to get away. And although he finally made it out of that tunnel safely, Art still remains a little timid, especially when approached by new people.
However, he seems to genuinely like other dogs and is getting along with all of his new “roommates”. We just know Art’s got a really great future ahead of him; he’s a very special dog! He only needs to be given that chance... to prove how deserving he is of a great home and a wonderful life! He’s already got the good looks;) He just needs a little work and lots of love and affection to show him how to trust again! If you would like more info on Art or if you are interested in donating, fostering, adopting or helping in anyway please let us know!!!
