Oh Happy Day...

Today are adoptions! We are trying a new place in Hollywood, should be fun. We started working last night on things to sell to raise money for the dogs. I decided I need more light ;-) to hard to sew in the dark. haha!

We named the shepherd with the pretty eyes. Her name is Meka- in hawaiian it means eyes, so that is fitting. Edi is a completely different dog these days. She likes having a mom and buddies to hang with and LOVES! to gives kisses. She grabs my head and practically attacks me with lickings. haha! Now we have to work on manners... ohh! what a challenge. We adopted out three dogs this week, to incredible homes. Yeah!!!

But still working on more adoptions so we can save more. Which makes it really hard to think of looking at the euth list lately, because we always want to get one more out. But we are at our limit with funds and space right now.

This is going to be a good week. I am very excited for the projects we are working on!

Woof!

After All...Tomorrow is Another Day.

Lots of updates... the shepherd was rescued and is now in boarding. She is so incredbile, very playful and sweet. We also named scarface, finally. Her new name is Milly Monroe, it fits her... with her one eye. hehe!

Edi Layne is doing great. She is a completely different dog than she was 5 days ago. I can actually rub her belly and she gives lots of kisses, and to think a few days ago she wouldn't come near any of us. I am very happy with the progress. I will post pictures soon.

We have also come up with a name for our rescue, We will announce that in our new newsletter with lots of other info. as well. All very exciting!!!

Today we decided we needed to come up with a new game plan for a few things. Lets hope they work, We really need the donations and fosters. Tomorrow we are taking new pictures of all the dogs for adoptions and posting them more on craigslist and so forth. These are incredible dogs, they just need a home and some love.

It has been a really rough couple of weeks, we are trying to stay positive. I guess we just need some love and support from our community. We are trying our best for these dogs, giving everything we can, sometimes it just doesn't feel like it is enough. I am not going to let these last 2 weeks get us down, it just means we have to pust harder and be stronger than our circumstances.

A Daunting Day...

Edi is now at my house, she has been here one day and is warming up well. Still can't pet her yet, but progress is coming along well. I feel bad for leaving scarface. she is the sweetest lil' girl, i will still go visit her daily until we have a foster or adopter.

the daunting part. (dum. dum. dummm.) we only have until monday to rescue this lil' shepherd. I have really fallen for her. she hasn't been at the kennel that long, maybe not even 2 weeks, but she is sickly so they want to kill her fast. We need fosters, sponsors, or donations to help her. so this will be a busy weekend just for her.
We might have potentional adopters for Cleo and Buck this weekend, as well as adoptions at the palisades. So lots to do! and i need a 6 ft. fence for my dogs, any advice.. arg!
I am really stressed over this lil' girl, i hope there will be good news to post after the weekend is over.

Somthin's a brewin'

I went and got 5 bags of dog food, courtsey of one of our monthly donator friends. We went to adoptions yesterday, we are very happy with the spot in the palisades. We had lots of people come by. Mary Martha and Quigley went home to a foster this week, and Buck went to meet a prospective parent. I was so nervous, thinking of giving him up, but seeing there are really good people out there, that they will take excellent care of him makes me feel a lot better. He gave a stellar performance, but they guy was hesitant. We will see... I hope he finds a good home soon, i would like to get Edi out of boarding. She is going to take a lot of work.
We also went on a quick trip to the shelter to check on a chow named Sisi that was on the euth list. Nikki loves those chows. haha! She is getting her out and placing her in a foster. I also saw a shephard i loved, i will post her picture soon. Want to find her a home quickly out of that place.
Nikki also found us a laywer that will do our non-profit process. yeah!!! and the cesar millan conference is coming up soon. Lots to do... but all good things.

I am really tired today, maybe it is the lavendar i am burning. The kids are all sleeping...(so cute)
i am working on names for the organization. ohhh! the brainstorm process. maybe nikki already came up with one. haha!

Give me a cup a Joe and call it a day.

today has been nothing but amazing news. yipeee!!!

the lil' boxer in the pics below was adopted, i hope to a good home. He deserves it.

I went to see the 2 at the vet. They LOVED the roast beef. haha! smells better than the chicken. my lil' Edi is still hesistant of me. It will take time. she is a gem. And the black one has the sweetest temperment.
Today i received a call from the most AMAZING woman. She offered tons of information that was so helpful with the business and the dogs. AND she is helping us out so much with donations of food, money, beds, and collars. I started crying, she is just so amazing. It is nice to hear other people that care as much as you do.
I have also spoken with one of my most favourite people. He has the best energy. He is never without a smile and you want to dance and see butterflies when he is around. Check out just ONE of his projects.
  • photoawards

  • He is someone people should be inspired by, he accomplished everything by his perservence, dedication AND dream. I miss him. i don't see him often enough.
Buck went to daycare today with wolfie. He looked lost without ansli and conrad. I really love that dog. Tears fill my eyes thinking of him not being with us. Will it get easier fostering these critters and then giving them up. I sure hope so, cuz it feels like my heart is breaking in pieces.

Swimming in a Sea of Love

Today is a low key day. I went and saw our two at the vet today and dropped off the muffins. mmm... good. and brought the kids some more chicken and bacon. They really liked that. It's amazing what a furry one will do for some meat. Tomorrow will be busy again, though. Buck and Wolfie are going to daycare to get some energy out before adoptions on Sat, and i believe Cleo is possibly finding her new home today. With a very wonderful family, i might add. I feel good about everything, maybe that is just me trying to stay positive, but that is how things happen. We have to put that good energy out to the universe.

so this morning i went and got coffee and a muffin. and well... guess what. i walk outside for a minute and it's gone. I see two guilty parties standing there, just staring at me. i really wanted that choc. muffin. arg! at least they didn't get my coffee, Conrad loves! coffee.

I am really restless about these two dogs and i saw a choc lab puppy today on the death list as well. only 4 months old, reminds me of my lil' choc. lab. We have 2.5 days left with these lil' ones. There has to be answers. There has to be people out there to help. I guess we will know in the next couple days.

Ohh! my favourite doggie came in last night. Stanley, he is the best lil' guy ever. He likes to talk, especially for BACON. I am taking pictures of him soon and will post them. He is sooo handsome.. Kudos to Adam and Amber for being such good parents!

    woof! woof!

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

    ( photos by nikki)

It is only noon and i feel like so much has been accomplished. I was up until 4am, just restless in thought about the dogs. So early this morning i took in the muffins and it worked. Don Paul helped me for an hour and the best part is... (drum roll please) my little dog that was listed with caution for biting. Is actually not a biter at all. He was starving to death, literally. Don Paul made him a big batch of dry and wet food and the lil' guy became his best friend, he would not! leave us alone. I was really frustrated yesterday, today everything is going to be ok. The puppy will be ok, i will find him a home. it has to be soon, he is getting sick in the kennel. but at least they took a new picture , one that lil' guy doesn't look so scared in. yeah!! so i got the 2 dogs held off the death list until sunday.

also good news... the wolf is getting out today!

I went to the vet to visit our two sickly ones. They are doing so much better. again, my lil' edi was starving to death. i would act the same way if i didn't eat. All these dogs need is a little food and love and everything will be ok. They both ate the chicken and bacon from my hand. i feel relieved. it just makes me sad for all the other starving, sick ones still in the shelter, But i guess it is one day at a time and we are doing everything we can.

I think i need to listen more to my gut. I had a feeling my dogs weren't aggressive. sometimes you don't know, but most of the time you do. Like on Cesar's blog, dogs are not aggressive there is always a reason for their behavior. It just takes someone listening and figureing out what it is. We all have that little hunch inside, but most of us are so clouded with noises outside ourselves, that we stopped listening.

    Give a Dog a Bone

( he needs OUT. was supposed to already be dead. Help!)

It's only Tuesday, it feels like Friday. We went to see the sickly ones yesterday. They are off IV's but have to stay in boarding until Friday. I can't stop thinking about them... wondering what they are thinking, if they know things will get better. Soon enough they will know, but it will take time. We went to the shelter today, there were two more on the euth list. We wanted to take pictures and network them. Already 3 dogs were saved today from the pictures that get posted and networked. yeah!!! But i hated leaving my lil' one. He is only 4 months old and already supposed to be dead. His owner brought him in hanging from his front two legs and said he didn't want him anymore. He is unsocialized, but he can be helped. We have got to get more money and fosters. Maybe that is why I have had a deathly 3 day headache. Stress that all these little lives need help and sometimes i just feel helpless. I have to tap into a marketing head realm. eek! I know there are genorous people, Nikki and i just have to find them or maybe them find us.

I decided I want to find Buck-aloo a home. But only the best! My home needs to be open for rehabilitation and i can't take in 4 dogs, it is too much and my house too small. I already miss him thinking of this. Letting these dogs go after helping them get back to normal is one of the hardest thing i will ever have to do. Like a mom giving up her babies. Tears fill my eyes. But i can't keep them all. There is a lot of love to go around. I am studying more training methods. i will be a cesar millan. Arg!!

( this is a wolf that can only get out by permit-needs a sanctuary)

So hopefully we will get some dogs adopted this week. Already there are 4-5 dogs with interest and we have adoptions at the palisades this weekend. oohhlala! Big houses for the doggies.

this week i will post new pics and hopefully figure out the website pages. I have really got to get a smaller dig. camera.

    beep! beep!

    The Dog Days of Winter

Yesterday went well...seeing the doggers and all. They were groggy and out of it. Edi was eating a little but the lil' black one, not so much. Their bloodwork came back clean, they both have really bad sinus infections, but we will know more tomorrow. Edi might be coming home with me until she is better. Tomorrow is the big day, we get to go see them again!! whee!

I have been really feeling conflicted. I have fallen in love with my Buck -alooo. He is such a good doggie, it would be nice if maybe someone with lots of land and space for him to run will be interested. That would make him happy. I don't know.

so today is sunday. my favorite day of the week, always a happy-relaxing day. Sammy leaves the 13th so she wants to go to the beach today with me and sadie. It will be a nice day to go. I am also applying for a new job this week. Everyone keep your fingers crossed. it would be perfect 10-4 as an assistant mon-thurs. oohhlala! I want it.

There is a lot to get done this week. Research going non-profit, a newsletter, fundraisers, photos ready, adoptions bandana's and pictures, apply for the cesar millan seminar, website, make toys and cards,.... etc... sounds like a good week!

    A Hard Day's NIght

    photos by nikki

Yesterday was the busiest day I have seen in a LONG time. A lot of good work was done, which made the exhaustion worth it. Nikki and I went to South LA to bail out our two wee lil' sick ones. AND are they ever sickly. The black one has a fever of 103 and the red one a fever of 105, they are on IV's for the weekend. I am going to visit them today and take them a burger. I think i have already bonded with my lil' red one, i named Edi. She already blessed me with a very strong love kiss. We also got to see Cleo off today at her foster. she is the sweetest ever, she should get adopted quickly. So last night ended well... I got lost on my way home, becuase i missed my turn early on. haha! i ended up somewhere?! took me 45 min to get home. i am getting better at remaining calmer when i get lost. Lately it seems to be often. But Sam made some yummy vegan soup with spelt bread ( not so! yummy) and the flattest cookies i have ever seen in my existance, but also good.

We missed adoptions today, more time to work on the newsletter and research going nonprofit. I also want to take some more pictures of Wolfie to start posting more often. I will keep you posted on the updates of the two sickly ones. The pictures aren't pretty but it will be good to see their progress. Nikki also gave me a couple pages on her website so i will be posting dogs that need rescued as well.
